For most professional artists and ensembles, international performances are the order of the day. The workshop will focus on how the globalised art and culture industry can be reconciled with the demands of sustainability in the area of mobility. How significant is the ecological footprint of small and medium-sized ensembles when travelling? How can it be measured? How useful is carbon offsetting, how can I recognise when it is greenwashing and how can I find trustworthy offsetting projects? The topic of climate justice will also be discussed with regard to projects in cooperation with actors in the Global South.

Fine Stammnitz will provide the expert input. She is the founder of the Green Touring Network, where she works to activate the potential of the music industry to make an active contribution to the fight for climate justice. She is also co-founder of Music Declares Emergency in Germany, part of the Aktionsnetzwerk Nachhaltigkeit and leads the recycling & sustainability management of festival productions.
