The field notes program by inm – initiative neue musik berlin e.V is a central point of contact for Berlin's contemporary music scene. Since 2016 it has been working on the professionalization, structural strengthening, and improved visibility of the contemporary music scene.
The program’s bi-monthly field notes magazine and the online platform www.field-notes.berlin provide a reliable overview of contemporary music in the city including in-depth features on current issues and events. Musicians, sound artists, composers or curators can benefit from its comprehensive qualification program and advisory service on issues related to working in the independent scene. With an annual conference on contemporary music in a global context, the program aims to encourage reflection on the role of contemporary music in today's society and connects Berlin-based actors with international professionals. As a cross-cutting theme, the programme aims in all its activities to reflect social diversity in the programme, staff, audience and partners and to reduce (structural) discrimination.
