Throughout September, the Month of Contemporary Music (Monat der zeitgenössischen Musik) presents musicians, composers and ensembles from Berlin that work in the realm of new music, sound art, music theatre, echtzeitmusik and improvisation. They take to the stages of both established concert halls and opera houses and independent spaces and clubs.

At the opening on 1 September, Zinc & Copper and Robyn Schulkowsky will perform a portrait concert in honour of Christian Wolff at Kulturraum Zwingli-Kirche. The brass ensemble and the percussionist juxtapose the works of the legendary American composer with contrasting approaches to contemporary chamber music. The concert includes older works as well as a world premiere by Wolff composed especially for Zinc & Copper and Robyn Schulkowsky. The ensemble interweaves the pieces with his collective piece »Well Tuned Brass«.

The evening offers the opportunity to talk with musicians, composers, artists, organisers, the audience, politicians and other players in Berlin's cultural life over drinks.
