Simon Løffler

Løffler_Komponist_zeitgenössische Musik Berlin

Simon Løffler’s work has been based on long investigative processes developing novel instrumental and biomechanical practices. His recent work explores the human body’s proximity to those of non-humans, as manifested in his Animalia cycle.

Løffler studied in Copenhagen with Bent Sørensen and Hans Abrahamsen, in Berlin with Wolfgang Heiniger, in Aarhus with Simon Steen-Andersen and in Brussels in the artistic research program A.PASS. He has completed an artistic PhD at the Norwegian Academy of Music entitled Becoming Animal.

Løffler has worked with numerous international ensembles, including Asamisimasa, Ensemble Nikel, Speak Percussion, Ensemble Adapter, Ensemble Recherche, Ensemble Hand Werk, Ensemble Scenatet, Nadar Ensemble, We Spoke, NEKO3 and others.

He has been performed in many festivals around the world, including Darmstadt ferienkürse für neue music, Maerzmusic, Ultraschall, Huddersfield festival, SPOR festival, Ultima festival, Borealis festival, Gaudeamus, Musica festival, Only Connect festival, Tag der Neue Musik, Kammerklang, November Music, Festival Flanders and others.
