Kunsthaus ACUD is one of the few remaining independent art centres founded in East Berlin right after the reunification in 1991. The building has had many uses in its 130-year history, including as a furniture factory, basket maker and dairy. In 1991, the building was entrusted to the ACUD Association, a collective of artists active in Prenzlauer Berg.

Today, ACUD encompasses five venues across nearly 1,500 square meters, including a theater, cinema, club, studio, and gallery. The Berlin-Mitte location also features a bar with a beer garden, two music schools, a tech/art school, a radio station, the headquarter of a renowned experimental music festival and its booking agency, as well as offices and studios for various cultural practitioners.
