Memory Chords

Gesprächskonzert

The ‘Hayward Tuning Vine’ app builds a bridge between human memory and the mathematical proportions underlying microtonality. It is a kind of map for exploring multidimensional harmonic space, translating complex numeric relationships into categories of perception such as colour and spatial position that may be grasped intuitively, thereby allowing easier access. In the first half of the evening these connections will be discussed with the help of musical examples. In the second half M.O. Abbott and Robin Hayward will present new pieces enabling a resulting ‘poetry of remembering’ to be experienced through music.

  • M.O. Abbott: »Neues Werk« (2022, UA)
  • Robin Hayward: »Neues Werk« (2022, UA)

Brass Abacus

M.O. Abbott, Bassposaune, tuning vine
Robin Hayward, Mikrotonale Tuba, tuning vine
