Concrete Sun is a trio with Evelyn Ficarra (laptop/found sounds), Heather Frasch (amplified objects /electronics) and Myra Melford (amplified inside piano/objects). The trio creates rich sonic layers that coalesce into composite textures and come apart into polyphonic voices, within predesigned formal structures that are implemented in real time.

MYRA MELFORD is a pianist and keyboardist who throughout her life in music has pursued a creative vision that is both wholly distinctive and all-embracing. Divergent idioms and eras coalesce in her work—from jazz, blues, and global folk styles to various corners of the classical tradition and the avant-garde. (myramelford.com)

EVELYN FICARRA is a composer and sound artist. Her work finds expression across a range of forms including music theatre, multimedia, installation, dance, film, and the concert hall. Her musical ideas are often co-mingled with, or germinated from, extra-musical materials (words, images, sounds) that inform the development and shape of the music and leave their traces in it. HEATHER FRASCH is a composer of acoustic and electroacoustic concert music, performer/composer (flute, laptop/electronics & sonic objects), and creator of interactive sound installations and digital instruments. Through the creation of complex timbres, the usage of unstable notation systems, and electronics, her work explores notions of fragility and stillness within an intermedia sonic arts practice.
