II. Spectrum Concerts Berlin 32. Saison 2020

Konzert zu Ehren von URSULA MAMLOK

(A more personal note for this English section) Ursula Mamlok was living and composing in New York City at the same time that I was living in New York (1978-1986) but we never met there. It was first in Berlin, her birthplace, many years later that we met, in 2012. It didn't take much time to establish a close musical and personal relationship. We only had four years to cultivate this wonderful friendship. Breezes, a piece she wrote for Spectrum Concerts Berlin in 2014, was premiered in 2015 along with various other chamber and solo works of hers. A Naxos recording from that concert was released (https://www.naxos.com/catalogue/item.asp?item_code=8.559771) In this season we are performing Breezes and Confluences and dedicating the concert to her memory.

  • Ursula MAMLOK: »Breezes«
  • Ursula MAMLOK: »Confluences«
  • Olivier MESSIAEN: »Quatuor pour la fin du temps«
  • Johannes BRAHMS: »Quintett op. 115«
