Bergama Stereo Performanceprogramm

Die Ästhetik des Widerstands

An open-ended experiment: rap remixes of the description of the Pergamon Altar from "The Aesthetics of Resistance" by Peter Weiss in German, Turkish and English with Ayben, renowned rapper from Istanbul, Volkan Türeli, pioneer of Turkish Hip Hop from Berlin, and David Moss, an American doyen of experimental vocal music living in Berlin.

Bergama Stereo
Performance program
In "Bergama Stereo", an architectural installation with sound, the Istanbul-based artist and musician Cevdet Erek references the form, the historically attributed function and the ongoing reception of the Pergamon Altar, now located in Berlin, and creates a new interpretation of the famous Hellenistic edifice. The exhibition marks the 20th anniversary of the series “Works of music by visual artists” and is accompanied by a performance and concert program.
A coproduction by Freunde Guter Musik Berlin e.V., Nationalgalerie – Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, and Ruhrtriennale. Funded by the German Federal Cultural Foundation, with support by the SAHA Association.
