CAMILLA VATNE BARRATT-DUE uses an interpretation of insect-patterns – traces of bark beetles found on trees in the polish forest Bialowieza – for a composition that seeks to simulate pop music love ballads from the early ’90s referencing Celine Dion and Robbie Williams. A scanner reads a sketch based on the beetles traces. These scores are played by dismantled accordion-reeds, triggered by external air from a set of programmed mechanically run ventilation-fans and synths. In tracing the love song the reading of these patterns aims for telling of stories from a wounded forest.
STROTTER INST. & PETER VUKMIROVIC STEVENS present their new album BILE NOIRE from ArpaViva which brings together piano and electronic music. Strotter Inst. uses modified turntables as percussion instruments by attaching objects to record surfaces which, at various speed, tap an amplified wire suspended over the decks. Concert music composer Peter Vukmirovic Stevens’ original piano compositions create a blending of atmospheres for this most unusual duet.
