Steve Reich „Six Pianos“ // Terry Riley „Keyboard Study #2“

After sold out concerts in the Kölner Philharmonie, the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn, the Hamburger Elbphilharmonie and the Großer Sendesaal of the rbb, the project "Six Pianos" founded by Gregor Schwellenbach will once again come together in Berlin: On 15.04.2020 in the Berliner Philharmonie, the pianists will sit down to Steve Reich's masterful composition for six grand pianos, but will expand their programme to include another great classic of Minimal Music - Terry Riley's "Keyboard Study #2" - in addition to their own works.

Gregor Schwellenbach, John Kameel Farah, Erol Sarp, Daniel Brandt, Paul Frick and Kai Schumacher are the offspring of a new generation of pianists who - classically trained - have a natural approach to modern pop and club music. What they all have in common is a strong reference to the works of the pioneers of minimal music: despite different approaches, sound research forms a starting point for their own work, in which they repeatedly produce innovative music between electronics, jazz and contemporary music.
