The Magic I. D. & Julia Reidy/ solo

Erosion of the Song

The Berlin-Viennese experimental pop outfit The Magic I.D. reconciles the abstract with the song. The sonic foundation of the quartet is built delicately by the psycho-acoustic clarinets of Kai and Michael, who you might know as The International Nothing. Maggie's stripped down guitar patterns and Christof's rough, subtly set in motion computer projections provide the porous walls, while their voices of inward bent beauty deliver the gorgeous ceiling of this fragile construction. The Magic I.D. released two albums of high praise and little sales a longer while ago and kept things quiet lately. Throughout this heated summer the quartet got itself busy again and constructed some new music from unheard angles for your pleasure.
26-year old Australian guitarist Julia Reidy focuses within her musical practice on instability and endurance, often through an extended palette of raw acoustic sounds, synthesised material and recorded artefacts. As a soloist she has performed works throughout Europe, Australia, South East Asia, Japan, North America and the UK. Her performance and composition practice extends into works for ensembles, installation, multi-media performance, song-forms and soundtracks. Her active projects include SPOILER, the Splitter Orchester, Tennis of All Kinds and sno globe.
