Herzstück

Kompositionen von Friedrich Goldmann

Friedrich Goldmann is one of the most important musical personalities of the late 20th century. His manifold activities - as composer, conductor and pedagogue - have left their mark on the musical life of Berlin and all of Germany to this day.
Since the early 1970s Goldmann has been one of the most important representatives of the musical avant-garde of the GDR, whose music has also been received with great interest in the West. His catalogue of works comprises more than 200 compositions of all genres, including four symphonies, several instrumental concertos and musical theatre works. His music is still present in international concert life today.
As conductor of such important ensembles as the Ensemble Modern, the Berlin Philharmonic and the Gewandthausorchester Leipzig, Friedrich Goldmann was particularly committed to New Music. He conducted the world premieres of works by Helmut Lachenmann, Luigi Nono, Hans Werner Henze and others. His influence as a teacher - first at the East Berlin Academy of the Arts, later as professor at the University of the Arts - is still felt today. The list of his former pupils reads like a Who-is-who of contemporary composing; Goldmann's comprehensive education and his curiosity for the unknown made it possible for such diverse artistic personalities as Enno Poppe, Helmut Oehring, Charlotte Seither or Steffen Schleiermacher to develop their compositional possibilities.
