An exploratory and varied programme of solo piano music performed by British pianist Joseph Houston. Including new pieces by composers based in London and Berlin, as well as two powerfully intense works by Rebecca Saunders and Iannis Xenakis, this programme explores themes of virtuosity, extremity, miscommunication, vulnerability, and obsession. These works will extend the traditional piano sound, embracing voice, electronics, and objects, examining the space between composition and improvisation.
