The music theatre ensemble DieOrdnungDerDinge invites passers-by to perceive everyday life in Berlin in a new way. Using QR codes on park benches in Mitte, the ensemble address visitors via their mobile phones, using imaginative, informative and playful audio and video to draw their attention to their surroundings or sometimes inside themselves, humorously playing with the here and now.
Look around you. You’re about to hear music.
Do you see anyone moving to the beat of this music?
For the creation of these poetic snapshots, DieOrdnungDerDinge experiment with sound, creating compositions inspired by each environment, with stories of creatures unseen but certainly there or fanciful enticements that alter the view of the urban surroundings and break through the daily grind.
From September for two months, the QR codes will lead chance passers-by to poetic stimuli in daily life – however, they can also be actively sought out with the aid of the project’s map of the city, an incentive for a most unusual walk.
What does the black-necked snakefly living in the tree above you actually sound like?
Ensemble DieOrdnungDerDinge specialises in the development of unusual formats for the presentation of new music, developing a poetic and humorous style that is both intellectually and sensually stimulating. DieOrdnungDerDinge bases its work on an expanded concept of music. The ensemble understands not only sound but also light, movement, objects and words as music. Visual and acoustic elements stand side by side on an equal footing. The boundary between musical and theatrical forms is fluid. During lockdown, the ensemble developed new digital formats that made contemporary music more accessible to a wider audience.
