The Ruins of Empire
20.00 Concert by the Psychedelic Choir, special guest: Anna Clementi
Mutualism is a complex symbiotic relationship between individuals in which no one pulls the short straw, but all benefit from their interaction. In the Psychedelic Choir, the members enter into such a relationship, where individual voices and sounds interweave on a par, becoming a living body of sensory discovery. In their performances, recognizable soundscapes dissolve into the experience of sound meandering through the body as abstract noise. In the concert «The Ruins of Empire,» the Psychedelic Choir will draw on both anarchist theories and the biological system of symbiotic relationships to sound mutualism, the theme of this month's «Chromatic Wednesdays».
Psychedelic Choir is a Berlin-based noise band, consisting of six singers (Florence Freitag, Gosia Gajdemska, Irina Gheorghe, Pauline Payen, Karoline Strys and Lyllie Rouvière) and a bassist (Leah Buckareff). The group intones haunting ambient sounds through witchcraft rituals, underscored by a mesmerizing sonic foundation of drones and processed sounds through the bass. The group is based on the principle of organic collaboration and equal participation in the compositions, both in terms of content and performance, forming an incarnation of symbiotic anarchism.
«Chromatic Wednesdays» is a bi-weekly event series aimed at bringing together creative thinkers from diverse backgrounds. The concert by the Psychedelic Choir will take place at Apartment Project (Hertzbergstraße 13, 12055 Berlin) at 20.00 (doors will open at 19.00). The event can also be followed online on Youtube https://youtu.be/02LLlWyXOFQ.
