With "Somehow We Can", the Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop explores the string quartet in a three-part series as an open and multi-layered format between music, society, and contemporary art. With a keen sense for sonic diversity, cultural contexts, and musical idiosyncrasy, the series features works that rethink the string quartet both in content and form. They create a web that makes difference audible.

The project presents eleven compositions by international composers — including several European premieres. A special focus is placed on voices of BiPoC and LGBTQ+ composers, whose perspectives are often underrepresented in the canon of contemporary music.

Following its premiere in June at Radialsystem — as a complete concert featuring all three parts — the project now unfolds in three individual performances at Berlin art venues. Each evening enters into direct dialogue with the artistic works presented on site, thus opening up new approaches to music and context.
