MIKROTONAL ECHO explores the polyphony of social coexistence. Acoustic and sculptural elements interact with one another, tracing the subtle variations and nuances of this complex structure. With their white marble floors, the two exhibition spaces offer a very distinctive acoustic environment, which the artists Daniela Fromberg and Harriet Groß deliberately engage with through their own hard, light-coloured materials in the form of ceramic objects and metal grid notations. In this seemingly forbidding environment, the focus is directed, via sound sculptures and sound experiments on the grids and drawings, towards the quiet, micro-total moods of interpersonal encounters, which are amplified by the echo and, despite their subtlety, create a distinct counterpoint to the all-encompassing noise.
With MARBLE MARBLE sound artists and composer-performers Janine Eisenächer and Steffi Weismann play with various everyday objects and, in interaction with the space and the audience, explore their surfaces, textures and sonic material properties. The exhibition space is thereby transformed into a listening room. Through performative musical intervention, a further facet is illuminated and the surroundings are drawn into a multi-layered engagement with the theme.
