Piano works by female composers are still underrepresented in the repertoire and performance practice, although their musical quality is beyond question. The »Piano Marathon: 24 Stunden Komponistinnen« aims to change this. Pianist Fidan Aghayeva-Edler, who has been researching and performing works by female composers for more than ten years, will play piano works by female composers, mainly from the 21st century, for 24 hours, including a world premiere every hour. The actress Mareike Hein reflects on the conditions of artistic creation of the featured female composers, performs and recites her own and discourse texts, asks questions, documents and draws live. Both artists create a space in which they make contemporary works by female composers tangible in their plurality and in which they reflect together with the audience on the conditions of their creation using artistic means - they share a space with the audience that Virginia Woolf calls for with »a room of its own« for female writers. Access to this Long-Durational-Performance is continuous, the audience is invited to set up camp for 24 hours in the church of St Elisabeth and listen to, think along with and experience the exciting piano repertoire of contemporary female composers.
