In honour of Morton Feldman's 100th birthday, the KNM Berlin ensemble presents his shadow-laden late work “For Samuel Beckett” with a large ensemble. The eighth, two-part edition of KNM CONTEMPORARIES thus focuses on personalised music. In contrast to the opera “Neither”, Feldman's last major work is not based on a text by Beckett. But just like his writings, this obsessive work is characterized by a simultaneous density and clarity, by repetitions and overlaps. Twenty years after the highly acclaimed CD recording, the ensemble, under the musical direction of Roland Kluttig, is once again dedicating itself to this ground-breaking work. True to Marcel Duchamp's motto: “Repetition is change.”
The second part of the eighth edition of the KNM CONTEMPORARIES – celebrities series will take place on March 14, 2026, at FAHRBEREITSCHAFT Berlin. With commissioned works by Hannes Seidl, Lan Cao, and others.
