On Sunday, August 9, 2026, we warmly invite you to the finissage of our current exhibitions at Künstlerhaus Bethanien. From 2:00 to 9:00 PM, all exhibitions by our current Artists in Residence will be open, offering one last chance to experience their work. Beginning at 7:00 PM, join us for an evening program featuring film, performance, music, and cold drinks at the bar.
Program
7:30 PM – Film Screening
To mark the closing of his exhibition Hovers, Shunsaku Hayashi will present a selection of his experimental films. Blending painting, animation, and experimental cinema, his works create richly layered, poetic visual experiences. Each film is composed of hand-painted frames that unfold into animated sequences, using cinematic techniques such as editing, rhythm, and duration to make movement not only visible but physically tangible.
8:00 PM – Performance
For the final time, Noé Duboutay activates his exhibition It Started with a Pear through a performance with Caroline Beach. The characters of the Girl, the Horse, and the Knight step out of the narrative and into the exhibition space, extending the exhibition's exploration of socially constructed gender roles and revealing fluid forms of identity inspired by the medieval verse romance Le Roman de Silence.
8:30 PM – DJ Set
The evening concludes with a DJ set by DJ Internet Offline (Jil Lahr). Emerging from the scene around Hamburg's legendary Golden Pudel Club, Lahr weaves together a wide range of genres, rhythms, and moods into open-ended, unexpected sonic landscapes. She is currently an Artist in Residence at Künstlerhaus Bethanien.
Join us for one last opportunity to experience our current exhibitions and celebrate the final day before our summer break—with art, film, performance, music, and refreshing drinks.
We look forward to seeing you!
