Henry Flynt – Three Essays on Spirituality and Art (João Simões, book)

»Modern authors on art have been unable to write about emotion and spirituality in art (unless they are satisfied to offer kitsch about associations which a work is supposed to elicit in some audiences),« writes Henry Flynt in the press release accompanying his »Three Essays on Spirituality and Art« published last summer. Over a good 200 pages, the Fluxus pioneer counters this with three essays that are intended to clear up this grievance and in doing so, postulates two different types of spirituality whose potential he explores in the context of art.
