Ghédalia Tazartès – Quoi qu'il en soit (Bisou Records, Buch/CD)

Ghédalia Tazartès fell silent on the 9th of February this year. The Frenchman was one of the most idiosyncratic musicians of the late 20th century and his albums such as »Diasporas« and »Une éclipse totale de soleil« from 1979 and 1984 are now rightly part of the indisputable canon of a genre whose name has yet to be found. Tazartès remained active throughout the years, collaborating extensively with other musicians and continuing to release solo albums. Meanwhile, a »cabinet of curiosities« accumulated in his studio that would have made even Charlemagne Palestine turn green (and pink, and red, and yellowish) with envy. Tazartès’ photographs of the motley hodgepodge were published in collected form as a book under the title »Quoi qu'il en soit« by Bisou Records barely two weeks after his passing. The pictures are accompanied by a live recording of his only concert with Jérôme Lorichon of Zombie Zombie and Quentin Rollet, who had worked with Nurse With Wound and David Grubbs, among others.
