Richard Scott – Delirious Cartographies (Arbitrary, LP/CD/digital)
The title already says it all: for »Delirious Cartographies,« Richard Scott was inspired and musically guided by the contexts surrounding him. Over a period of four years, three compositions were composed at six different locations, and on this release are complemented by a fourth piece based on visual notations as well as the corresponding prints. In keeping with the concept, the musician, who is usually mainly active on the synthesiser, expands his sound spectrum, repeatedly inserting the outside world into the multi-layered tracks by using field recordings. But the boundaries between the individual sounds and their origins become blurred again and again—there’s a reason why these cartographies are delirious, after all.
