Rand – Peripherie (Rand, LP/CD/digital)

Jan Gerdes is a pianist, Frank Bogdanowitz a.k.a. Dr.Nojoke a producer of electronic music and the name of their joint project Rand. After the release of two EPs in 2020, which can probably be understood as preliminary studies, they now present their debut album with »Peripherie,« for which Gerdes' partly improvised, partly composed piano passages are sometimes complemented, sometimes contrasted by the sounds emanating from Bogdanowitz' machinery. Minimal music and techno, IDM and ambient, neo-classical and jazz: many different genres and musical approaches find their way to each other on the path of these two fringe artists, letting something very unique emerge in the midst between all of these musical peripheries.
