Oren Ambarchi – Shebang (Drag City, LP/CD/MC/digital)

In the first KISSA event during the Month of Contemporary Music, Oren Ambarchi traversed the impressive back catalogue of his label Black Truffle like a DJ. This month alone, he added three more records to its ever-expanding catalogue; all featuring archive material by Alvin Curran, the Bergisch-Brandenburgisches Quartett (Rüdiger Carl, Sven-Åke Johansson, Ernst-Ludwig Petrowsky, and Hans Reichel) and Amelia Cuni, respectively. But that's not all: with »Shebang«, he also put out a new solo album that is actually not a solo album in the strict sense of the word: with Julia Reidy and Sam Dunscombe, among others, he got support from the Berlin scene, just as old friends like Joe Talia or Jim O'Rourke contributed their part(s) to Ambarchi's complexly intertwined guitar melodies.
