exploratorium berlin: "Improvisation International"

For many years the exploratorium berlin has been inviting musicians from the Berlin and international improvisation scene. During the lockdown, many of the concert recordings made were published on the internet. The concerts and live streams that could take place with an audience in 2020 can also be seen. From the protagonists of the first hours of free improvised music in the 1960s (AMM, People Band, Trevor Watts, Maggie Nicols, Tony Oxley, Malcolm Goldstein) to the current offspring from the improvisation course in Basel (it is what it isn’t, March 2020), different generations from more than half a century of improvisation history are gathered here, with their different stylistic characteristics and aesthetic ideals and occasionally in interdisciplinary exchange with other arts.
