Symposium: Contemporary Music in Global Context
26th – 27th September 2019
Akademie der Künste

As part of the Month of Contemporary Music, field notes and the Akademie der Künste Berlin will be hosting a two-day Symposium on 26th and 27th September to reflect on intercultural cooperation, international networks and artistic practices in global contexts.

Far-reaching socially transformative processes such as globalization, digitization, migration, and mobilization are transforming society and culture and therefore have an immediate impact on artistic working processes in contemporary music. A world that is constantly converging offers new forms of dialogue and at the same time calls for new methods of operations and structures beyond national borders.

The symposium opens with an Open Space, a tool for self-organized exchange and knowledge transfer. The workshop format offers an open environment to exchange experiences on collaborative work processes, intercultural thinking in the conception of concert projects, festivals and funding programs, as well as the development of international networks. The second day provides a chance to learn about and exchange with organizations, festivals, and ensembles of the contemporary music scene in the Balkans.

An invitation to the symposium with the complete program follows the 25th of June 2019. You can register for the symposium at (up to and including the 15th of August 2019) free of charge.
