The singer, songwriter and musician Axinia Schönfeld spent most of her adolescence in Toronto, Canada, before she returned to Berlin, Germany, her city of birth. Her mother tongue is thus German and English. Her father Friedhelm Schönfeld, a reputed jazz musician, composer and arranger, introduced her to the tradition of northern American jazz music. Her mother Gipsy Schönfeld, a Chanson singer, taught her the tradition of German and French chanson. They both share and meditate in this duo program on their musical roots from the Great American Song Book and Spirituals: the timeless song.
