Die Covid-19 Krise betrifft nicht nur die auftretenden Musiker*innen, sondern rüttelt auch an den Strukturen des Kulturbetriebs. Den Clubs drohen Schließungen und Festivals sind gezwungen, sich neu zu erfinden. 
Wie ergeht es den internationalen Festivals, deren Größenordnung, lange Vorlaufzeiten und internationale Netzwerke kaum kompatibel sind mit allwöchentlichen neuen Hygiene-Auflagen? Wie kuratieren Festivals in pandemischen Zeiten, in denen Kultur als nicht „systemrelevant“ genug gilt? Was sind die kreativen Strategien und Zukunftsvisionen?
Wir freuen uns auf eine spannende Diskussion mit einigen prominenten Veranstalter*innen und Netzwerker*innen der europäischen Jazz-Festival-Szene, moderiert von Nadin Deventer, der künstlerischen Leiterin des Jazzfest Berlin.

Nadin Deventer Geboren 1977, studierte Europawissenschaften und Musik in Paris, Amsterdam und Berlin. Seit fünfzehn Jahren ist sie als Kuratorin, Dramaturgin und Projektleiterin in verschiedenen Kontexten im Kulturbereich tätig und hat die Programme des Festival van Vlaanderen in Brüssel und anschließend insbesondere die Kulturlandschaft des Jazz im Ruhrgebiet geprägt. Sie arbeitete bei der Ruhrtriennale und im Team von Ruhr.2010, Kulturhauptstadt Europas, für die sie das internationale Jazz-Programm „No blah-blah!“ mit 60 Konzerten in mehr als 20 europäischen Städten kuratierte. Nadin Deventer leitete neun Jahre lang (2007–2016) das „jazzwerkruhr“, ein regionales Netzwerk und Festival, das sie mit innovativen Projekten wie zum Beispiel „jazzplayseurope (2007–2012)“ sukzessive zu einer internationalen Künstlerwerkstatt und Koproduktionszelle weiterentwickelte. So hat sie im Rahmen des „Jazztopad Festival“ in Breslau als bi-nationales Kooperationsprojekt den preisgekrönten 24-hours-run „What’s in the fridge?“ entwickelt und durchgeführt. Als Künstlerische Leiterin gestaltete sie 2013 die dritte Edition des „festival n.a.t.u.r. – natürliche ästhetik trifft urbanen raum“, eine Plattform zwischen Kunst, Kultur, Aktionismus, Urbanität und Ökologie mit 171 Veranstaltungen an den 12 Festivaltagen. Von 2012 bis 2018 war sie im Vorstand des „europe jazz network“ aktiv. Von 2015 bis 2017 war sie für die Berliner Festspiele als Organisationsleitung der Intendanz für das Jazzfest Berlin tätig ,und von 2014 bis 2017 darüber hinaus auch für die für die von den Berliner Festspielen selbst initiierten Projekte. Seit 2018 ist sie Künstlerische Leiterin des Jazzfest Berlin.

Martyna Markowska Since 2013, Martyna Markowska has been the head of programming of the Institution of Culture Katowice City of Gardens, where she programmes the Katowice JazzArt Festival and the world music festival Gardens of Sounds. In addition to writing for numerous publications dedicated to interdisciplinary forms of art, she specialises in curating interdisciplinary and social projects within the programme of Katowice - UNESCO Creative City of Music such as Polish aspect of Czech Music Crossroads in Ostrava. She was a member of the team that organised WOMEX 2017 in Katowice, is a current board member of Europe Jazz Network, and in 2019 was part of the programme committee for European Jazz Conference in Novara in September 2019.

Martel Ollerenshaw Based in the UK and working internationally Martel Ollerenshaw is an arts broker and creative producer. With a wide portfolio of skills and interests, she leads her own company, Arts & Parts and works actively with artists, organisations and festivals to create, produce and present work that is pioneering and often genre blurring.

Active in the international art music and jazz community, she is the vice president of the Europe Jazz Network, a board member of the Australian Music Centre and hcmf// (Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, UK) and an advisor for Jerwood Arts (UK), Music Norway (NO) and Pro Helvetia (Switz).

Murat Sezgi has been actively involved in music business since 2003. From large open air festivals to club shows, he took part in various types of events in culture and arts scene. In 2015, he co-founded 3dots, an initiative based in Berlin and Istanbul. The company created brands such as Bozcaada Jazz Festival, International Bergama (Pergamon) Theatre Festival, XJAZZ Istanbul, Kaş Jazz Festival, Accessible Everything (Erişilebilir Her Şey - an accesibility project focusing on cultural events). Together with other risk takers and fellow festivals / venues in Turkey, he is one of the initiators to launch Turkey Jazz Network (online soon). He is also working as the CEO for XJAZZ, mostly busy with spreading XJAZZ love internationally to the cities such as Tel Aviv, Istanbul, Stockholm, Minsk and more to come.

Tina Heine lebt und arbeitet vornehmlich in Hamburg und Salzburg. Sie ist seit 2016 Intendantin des Salzburger Jazzfestivals Jazz & The City mit über 100 Konzerten und bis heute Geschäftsführerin der von ihr 1996 eröffneten Hadley´s Bar. Hier veranstaltet sie in unregelmäßigen Abständen kulturelle und politisch/gesellschaftliche Formate. Sie verantwortet zudem das spontane Festival ZWISCHENRÄUME (16.-31.7.2020) in Salzburg und das Festival SUPERGAU für zeitgenössische Kunst im Land Salzburg. (14.-23.Mai 2020)

Sie ist als Dozentin am Institut für Kultur- und Medienmanagement an der Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg und an der Universität Mozarteum in Salzburg tätig.

Edin Zubčević was born in 1969 in Sarajevo. He studied Philosophy and Sociology at University in Sarajevo.

Founder of Jazz Fest Sarajevo, international music festival (annually since 1997). Europe Jazz Network awarded Jazz Fest Sarajevo and Edin Zubčević as artistic director with EJN Award for Adventurous Programing 2019. As founder and producer of label and agency Gramofon (since 2003), he produced hundreds music and other events from chamber music concerts to big arena pop-rock shows and corporate events. Since 2001 he produced and published over 40 CDs, DVDs, and books, most of them released for Gramofon. In 2018, he established NOMAD web portal of freedom that was launched on 9th May 2018.
Founder of Unstable Network (September 2018), independent touring network of European promoters, organising monthly European tours of US and European musicians, in more than ten European countries – with special concert series The Stone In Europe, curated by American composer John Zorn. Since 2018 he’s co-curator of Ljubljana Jazz Festival in Slovenia. In 2009 he started regional music event Xenophonia, and in 2012 regional educational program for young musicians Music Meeting. Since 1987 he has been writing comments, reviews and essays about music in daily newspaper and magazines, he hosted hundreds of shows on various national and independent radio stations. He is also working as a freelance PR consultant (since 2000), artist manager (since 2000) and freelance fixer for international magazines such as The New York Times Magazine, Der Spiegel... Business Magazine named him Art Manager of the Year in 2000.
